String-Art
Are you still looking for a decorative gift that is totally individual and quick to finish? Then String Art with a personal motive is just the right thing!
That's what's needed:
- Wooden board
- Wool/Thread
- Nails
- Hammer
- Stencil
Get on the boards!
First of all, the motive to be immortalized on the wooden board is considered. This is then either drawn by hand or printed out in the appropriate size. Now place the template on the wooden board – and off you go.
The hammer is circling
Now it's time for the hammer. Knock nails into the board at regular intervals around the template.
Ensnaring
As soon as all nails are hammered into the board and the pattern is transferred, it is removed from the middle. The wool is then knotted to the "starting nail". We recommend starting at the bottom of the mould. Once the wool has been knotted, the contour of the mould should first be illustrated. This is achieved by placing the wool around the outer nails.
Be creative!
Now creativity can be given free rein. The main thing is that every nail is hit once. It is important to press down the wool regularly on the nails, so the nails can be covered several times and the form becomes fuller.
Finally, the contours of the shape should be redrawn once more. Then cut off the wool with some excess and knot it to the last nail. Simply cut off the remains with scissors. The decorative DIY is ready.

Do-It-Yourself:
Bag Pendant
A great gift idea: A little bit of Christmas to go! This bag pendant is super easy to make yourself and is guaranteed to make you look forward to Christmas at every sight.
That's what's needed:
- Scissors
- Yarn
- Buttons of different sizes
- Two needles (which fit through the buttonholes)
- Pearl in the shape of a star
- Key ring
Threading, threading, threading
We start with the biggest challenge: Getting the thread through the eyelet – directly twice. So there should be needles at both ends of the thread so that it can be pulled comfortably parallel through two buttonholes.
Button after button
Now the buttons are threaded step by step with both needles. It is important to use the same buttonholes for threading. In addition, the buttons should also be strung together according to size. From large to small to give the impression of a Christmas tree.
Crown the tree
Once all the buttons are threaded, the grand finale comes: the crown. For this purpose, both needles should be pulled through the bead in the shape of a star. The ends of the yarn are then knotted.
Tie the knot!
Finally tie the small Christmas tree to the key ring and attach it to the bag.

Shoe Bag
A nice gift idea for Christmas are shoes. To give the gift a personal touch, a homemade shoe bag is a good idea. This is a great packaging, protects the shoes in the shoe cabinet and can also be used elsewhere.
That's what's needed:
- One piece of cotton fabric 74cm long and 31cm wide (incl. seam allowance)
- Two pieces of cotton fabric á 80cm length and 5cm width
- Sewing machine
- Needles or clips for staking out
- Colour matching yarn
- Scissors
- Tape measure
Staking Out
The first step consists of staking out. Place the piece of fabric for the bag (74cm x 31cm) flush on top of each other, lengthwise, right to right. Now turn the short ends of the fabric 2cm wide outwards and stake them out.
Stitch down
Then start the sewing machine and sew off the pinned edge of the bag.
Next, the long panels of the piece of fabric, still right sides together, are staked out and sewn with one centimetre of seam allowance.
Precision work and tuning
Cut off the seam allowance at the bottom of the bag on the left and right with scissors. This helps you to work out the corners better when turning.
Now turn the bag over. At the lower corners you can help a little with a pencil, so that the shape is more pronounced.
To the handles, ready, go!
Now that the „belly“ of the bag is ready, the handles have to be attached. The same applies here: First stake out, then sew. First, you have to decide which side should be on the outside. Once this has been decided, the outer sides of the handles are folded in from both sides, 1 cm wide each, and then stuck in place.
Now fold the folded sides once more in the middle and lay them on top of each other. Sew this on. Repeat for the other handle.
Fixation
Fix the handles with the still „open“ side to the inside of the bag.
Now attach the handles to the bag with a decorative cross.
The individual DIY is ready.

Decorative packaging of gift voucher
Christmas is just around the corner and no presents yet? No problem! We have a great last-minute alternative, which can even be prepared shortly before Christmas: Packing a gift voucher decoratively.
That's what's needed:
- Rieker Shop Gift voucher
- Envelope
- Glittering Stars
- Gift ribbon
- Small cake top
- Scissors
- Glue stick
- Stamp & ink pads
Off behind the screen
The first step is to sit down at the PC and go to www.rieker-shop.de. There you will find the category „gift voucher“directly under the Rieker logo, where you can also choose the voucher design. The value of the voucher can be set in the range of 10-200€. After receipt of payment you will receive the voucher by mail and it should be printed afterwards.
Get personal!
Choose a DIN-length envelope that either matches the colour of the voucher or the taste of the recipient. Then it is time to decorate: First, the small cake top is stamped and glued to the centre of the envelope with a glue stick. The Rieker Shop gift voucher is then folded to fit the envelope.
Last Finish
Our gift vouchers are beautifully designed, but for the personal touch it can of course still be decorated. For example with glitter stars.
Bow around!
Now there should be put a ribbon around it. Simply cut a little ribbon and wrap it around the envelope of the gift voucher.
